Here is a little video I made of our first couple days with Archer. That happened a whole month ago. Whoa.
Last month we were in the hospital probably practicing breastfeeding or getting antibiotics in our IVs. This month Archer is making squeaky noises in my arms while he naps. The laundry just buzzed. I’m still in my pjs at 12:38. Oh, he must have just had a nightmare because that bottom lip started quivering and he cried out! And then he burped. I think it is so cute when he burps.
He eats all the time–every 2 hours on average. He poops and pees almost every time he eats–usually a big one in the morning. Tummy time is not his favorite–it seems frustrating and he just grunts and protests the whole time. He sleeps in his rocking moses basket or on my chest. Clearly the latter is preferable to him, but it usually just happens for naps or if I can’t get him to fall asleep any other way. His longest stretch of sleep is 3 or 4 hours in the night, waking up a total of 3 or 4 times. We are back to cloth diapering after the thrush rash cleared up. I use homemade cloth wipes too. We spend most of our days in the rocking chair, and I have short productive spurts to do things like make water kefir or sprouts. He likes his bouncy chair, stuffed monkey, and crinkly caterpillar.
This month has been the best time of our lives. Hands down. I always knew I wanted to be a mama, but now that I really am it is better than I ever imagined! This little guy has my unconditional love forever. It’s just true. He trusts me and depends on me and it’s the most amazing thing I’ve ever experienced.
I’ve been trying to get a good photo of him for his 1 month comparison picture, but it’s been cloudy all week! Hopefully by the end of today I’ll get a good shot.
