our Easter was joyful and full. i awoke early with archer, 5:50 am. i had planned on overnight cinnamon rolls but never got to it the night before. but dangit i was just set on homemade cinnamon rolls! they are my very favorite food group. eggs and toast just did not seem special enough for the most wonderful day of the year.
so…. with our black coffee we indulged in:::
archer even had a teeny pinch of my roll. then, after a bath for archer, we put on our sunday best for mass. what a joyful mass it was! my voice threatened to crack [whether from jubilation or awe i’m unsure] as we sang “Christ the Lord is risen today, Hallelujah!” our little bean was a trooper through the whole [almost] 2 hour service. he certainly entertained the folks seated around us. then we feasted with the rest of the parish! there were even “spirits” in the o.j. // so festive!
the sun was just right as we left church, this bench begged for a photo op. lots of photos…
we came home and cooked those cinnamon buns right off… the menu for our Paschal feast: garlic rosemary fennel [local] lamb sausages, sage and thyme sweet potatoes with [natural] bacon, fresh ambrosia fruit salad, broccoli kale feta quiche, hot cross buns, deviled eggs, brie, gouda, bread, what am i forgetting???? it was quite delicious and so much fun! friends, coworkers, family all gathered to celebrate with us. we had a late night, but it was well worth it!
He is risen indeed! from Psalm 66, the psalm for this evening:::
8 Praise our God, all peoples,
let the sound of his praise be heard;
9 he has preserved our lives
and kept our feet from slipping.
10 For you, God, tested us;
you refined us like silver.
11 You brought us into prison
and laid burdens on our backs.
12 You let people ride over our heads;
we went through fire and water,
but you brought us to a place of abundance.
